Kenya

24x42in
Acrylic on canvas

This painting is a deeply personal homage to my Kenyan roots and heritage, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry passed down through my father. It was a tribute to the landscapes of Kenya, the history woven into every aspect of tribal life, and the significance of the jewellery and markings that define the Kenyan people.

Across the canvas, tribal marks, delicate and purposeful, stretch like a narrative of tradition and identity. These marks, inspired by the facial tattoos and scarification practices of Kenyan tribes, move across the painting, creating an almost ceremonial rhythm. They represent a rite of passage, a visual language of strength, beauty, and belonging.

Client had an open brief.
