A remarkable coincidence occurred while I was painting this specific belly dancer. A childhood friend from school, whom I grew up with but lost contact with when she moved out of the country during our teenage years, reached out to me. Despite numerous attempts to reconnect over the years, I had lost hope of ever finding her. However, just as I was working on this painting, I received a message from her on Facebook. The uncanny part was that the dancer I was painting bore a striking resemblance to her. In honour of this serendipitous reunion, I named the painting after her, Anita.
